Magic Menu for OS X
Stuffit Deluxe 7.0 just came out for OS X, and with it came a new Magic Menu. The version of Magic Menu shipped is not the version I submitted to Aladdin, as far as I know, it contains little, if any, of my code. It also installs something called MagicMenu Enabler in /Library/InputManagers/. Other than the concept, it is not related to Menu Extra Enabler in any way. If you want to continue to use Magic Menu 6.5.1 (which I wrote) in 10.2, first remove the Magic Menu Enabler, then download and install Menu Extra Enabler from the corporate site. Finally, enter the following commands into the Terminal (/Applications/Utilities/Terminal): sudo ln -s /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/HIServices.framework /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/HIServices.framework This command belongs on one line (no returns) and there is a space before the second /System/ and then launch Magic Menu 6.5.1. Magic Menu 6.5.1 will have all the benefits (including long file names) of the Stuffit 7 engine except for Stuffit X file creation. Related:

Does Aladdin's menu extra enabler disable the one you guys use? I am just confused, why would I want to use 6.5.1 instead of 7? Posted by: Etan on September 26, 2002 2:12 PMJust cause, I wrote 6.5.1 ;) And it should handle tar files, gzip files and the like better than Stuffit does, provided that the Developer tools are installed. Also, 6.5.1 doesn't bring the System UI Server to a halt when it's in use (Not sure if 7 does or not) Posted by: Rosyna on September 26, 2002 2:22 PMWhat's Magic Menu? Is that another name for Fruit Menu? I'm sorry but I couldn't find any info through the corporate site hyperlink you gave. Posted by: EggZ on October 1, 2002 4:38 PMIt really seems like a totally different beast now, looks a lot more like an Aladdin product now. Which is a bad thing, actually ;-) Any chance for a separate release of an unsanity-magic-menu some day, or is your contract waterproof? ;-) Posted by: skab on October 9, 2002 6:38 PMKeep comments on topic.
