Dock Fixup

Ahh, come on Apple! Another time I install an OS update (10.2.4 in this case), and another time the "dock fixup" script in the updater adds Mail.app, Address Book.app and Sherlock.app in my Dock. Sure, it only takes a second to drag them out again (I don't use them that often to keep them in the Dock), but please, let me decide what I want to have in my Dock.

Hmmm.... My dock is just as empty and Address Book & Sherlockless as it was with 10.2.3. Your not working with any alpha or beta software, are you Slava

I had a grin tag added after 'Slava' , but that's gone now for some reason - must be an MT bug....

My dock hasn't been changed by 10.2.4 update either.

On another note, ClearDock no longer works on the dock:(

Weird. The Mac OS X 10.2.4 update added Mail & Co to my Dock on my iMac, but not on my PowerBook.

Both systems where configured quite similarly.

my iMac & iBook docks remained the same. hmm.

Both my work machine and my two machines at home periodically display these symptoms. Never been able to work out why ? it happens even after the odd restart.

Mine didn't do the dock update. Perhaps its because I am running the Minimize In Place beta dock though.

It's a shame about Pathfinder. I love the way it's set up, and prefer it's column view to the Finder, but always find myself switching between them. I wish it was much faster, I could totally replace the Finder with it.

Speaking of minimize in place when will we see minimize in place in windowshade x?

I don't keep ANYTHING imn my Dock. Except DragThing which I use to REPLACE the Dock as an app launcher and just use it as a Running App list. I was wondering why the icons keep showing up.

Is there also a script like this hidden somewhere that periodically "accidentally" causes the Dock to regain these icons even when not updating?

Maybe Unsanity can create a Haxie to intercept the commands that add the icons like that and put a stop to them?

Or we can hound Apple with "Bug Reports" that they should stop doing it.

Or we can just keep dragging the icons out.

I vote for the second.

It happens on my system dock also with every OS update.
