April Fools
Okay, here is a semi-mean way to torture your friends: http://www.unsanity.org/slava/AppleBurnAlertNotifier-apr1.sit Put it into Login Items for your friend or something. And we are not really that mean. We are just having fun. Our apologies if that actually scares anybody, even if it is April 1. Just a note, this thing will not do any harm. Just sit back and let things go as they go. Trackback Pings: TrackBack URL for this entry: Related:

That's genius Slava. Congrats. I added and linked you to my prank roundup. Posted by: Jon on April 1, 2003 9:53 AMI'd say go into process viewer... It does go away after a while automatically. Posted by: Jon on April 1, 2003 10:09 AMthanks, Just let it live for a while. The thing will automatically undo itself after 2 minutes. If you force quitted the app, though, running it again will restore any side effects it applied. Posted by: slava on April 1, 2003 10:24 AMHey, -gabe Posted by: Gabe on April 1, 2003 11:29 AMOkay, I'm curious. Where are you putting this thing so that it starts up even after I reboot? (I ask because it's *not* going away after 2 minutes!) coyote Posted by: coyote on April 1, 2003 12:06 PMgood one fellas just figured it out, well, it worked fine for me, but i played the prank on someone else and it wont go away! he logged out, he rebooted, everything. someone get me out of hot water and help him, please? Posted by: Xel on April 1, 2003 2:23 PMCan someone please tell exactly "how" to get rid of this? It's not going away...are you just supposed to let it sit there? Posted by: What??? on April 1, 2003 3:40 PMI killed it via terminal.app, then went into universal access and hit the switch to white on black button. It undid it. Posted by: on April 1, 2003 4:38 PMI actually LIKE the Universal Access White-On-Black mode :P Although it does look funky when you have subpixel antialiasing on. Posted by: Feanor on April 1, 2003 8:24 PMhello If you're having problems getting this app to go away, first look in your Process Viewer or top (via Terminal) and quit the process. That should solve the problem. Failing that, drag the ABAN app icon to the trash and logout/login. Failing that...um...reinstall the OS? Posted by: Inspired on April 2, 2003 5:48 AMThat's all well and good, but I have a question. The Apple Universal Access "White on Black" setting is not the same as what this does. Apple's "White on Black" slows down my processes tons. What does this do and why doesn't it slow everything down? Posted by: SpacemanSpiff on April 4, 2003 9:54 PMfirst class...had me for ages until i read this post, lol :) Posted by: Big Jim on July 14, 2005 5:11 AMI worked it out with the clue about going into Universal Access. I went in, clicked the black on white button and all was well again. Keep comments on topic. If a comment is unrelated to this post, it may be removed or moderated. |
