T-Mobile not getting IMs?
I'm trying out that Mobile IM forwarding feature from AOL. Problem is messages are never delivered to my cell phone (T610) although the AIM service says they will be. They are just eaten. Don't mean to make this such a short post but does anyone else with T-Mobile and something other than a hiptop actually receive messages from AIM? I can receive other SMS messages just fine. This is really bugging me a lot... Trackback Pings: TrackBack URL for this entry: Related:

bah. Why use that service? T-Mobile has *free* WAP access for all its subscribers (unlimited use). Just log onto wimd.aol.com via your WAP browser and use AIM for real. Not just forwards. Posted by: Jon Gales on March 23, 2004 3:41 PMWho wants to carry a computer around everywhere? It's nice to be able to receive messages when you're away from your desk, and my phone works in a lot more places than my wireless laptop. Anyway, AIM Forwarding works fine on my T-Mobile Motorola V66. Posted by: EJ Campbell on March 24, 2004 1:55 AMJon, that works perfectly. Although it is DOG slow and very annoying because it delivers a bunch of messages at once. And very hard to respond to. And you stay logged in even if you exect the browser so it is nearly impossible to sign off. Posted by: Rosyna on March 25, 2004 2:04 PMJon, sorry for jumping on you... I thought you mean WAP as in wireless access point :) then skimmed through the rest. Posted by: EJ Campbell on March 25, 2004 10:15 PMYou might be getting bugged now by not being able to get the messages but you'll be even more annoyed when you actually start getting the messages. I thought it would be a convenience, but most people keep messaging you like you're still online (most clients just view you as online, not that you're receiving forwards over a mobile). I guess you have to try it to find out. Posted by: mrbiiggy on March 26, 2004 12:48 PMThere is a log-off option, it's on the main screen. Just click it and it goes off. It should be pretty responsive if you are using GPRS, but speed varies by area. I just use it with another screen name that I have a few buddies on. That way the few people that might need me can, and I am not bothered with chit chat. But hey. It's free. Hope you get the forwarding figured out. Posted by: Jon Gales on March 26, 2004 1:17 PMHi, Does anyone know if it's possible to forward AOL IMs to Virgin Mobile phones? Posted by: TJ on December 22, 2004 10:46 PMI have a Nokia 6820 which I bought through AT&T. I switched over to T-mobile and I cannot for the life of me use their AIM function. Even if I use their WAP or the built in software. I tried to config my phone manually with a IM profile and there was still no dice. Can anyone help me? Posted by: Angel Hipster on February 3, 2005 10:29 AMAOL IM Forwarding used to work for Virgin Mobile, it hasn't worked in over a year, I've been a VM customer for quite a while, and it worked for me for a while, but I had the Vox8500, it wouldnt let me reply to any of them. Posted by: VeL on March 17, 2005 12:43 PMI have the same problem...the funny thing is, i used to be able to receive IMS thru AIM before, but i cant receive them as of now...weird, bugging the hell outta me too Posted by: jon on March 22, 2005 10:17 PMi have the same problem i have metropcs service with a nokia phone and i never get the confirmation mssg but i get txt mssgs from other cells fine i tried signing off everything and still never get it Posted by: coolaidman on September 27, 2006 10:32 AMSince Virgin Mobile goes throw the Cincinnati Bell Network, you can't get it. Yahoo!'s policy is quite clear: "Effective February 18, 2008, Cincinnati Bell and AOL no longer offer access to the AOL IM service through the Cincinnati Bell network. There is no plan to provide this service in the future. Should you have any problems with your billing or cellular service, please contact Cincinnati Bell. We apologize for any inconvenience."
