Xounds 2.5b2 is now available. This version fixes an annoying Finder crashing bug when you drag something into the Trash (I wonder if anyone remembers the Mac OS 8/9 extension where a lovely monster would pop out of the Trash icon every time you empty it… who knows how many useful files were destroyed back then just to see that appearance!).
It also fixes a bug with the preference pane being cropped on 10.4 (oops, totally forgot the window width is different).
Here here: Xounds 2.5b2

Also here is a beta of Chat Transcript Manager that now is able to scan iChat files as well as "new" Adium ones — in other words, be a nice Leopard citizen.
Linkie: CTM 1.1.3b1
I'll get back to you regarding the status of our other haxies within next few days :)

Posted by: Ben on April 20, 2009 8:25 AMBought the Labels X for Tiger 10.4.11 and it isn't working at all. If I had known this was going to happen after trying it out, I would've NEVER bought it!! ~KD
Posted by: KD on April 20, 2009 8:36 AMThere is a new/old problem:
I got 3 'xoundsd' processes showing up on my Activity Monitor! Also, one of them is allways 'Not Responding'
Look.
Posted by: Look on April 21, 2009 6:13 AMI have the same issue with Xounds as Apple’s Activity Monitor exhibits the same result: xoundsd (Not Responding). Also, WindowShade X is still wreaking havoc with my Dock, and Expose as all the default Apple settings reset themselves after a Restart or Start Up; if I completely remove WindowShade the issue subsides. Thanks.

Posted by: F451 on April 21, 2009 1:26 PMGreat news about Unsanity waking up from dead. Also I am very happy seeing Xounds. Used Keyclik, which was nowhere close to the Xounds.
Have a question, while back, there was a web with all kinds of system sounds (I think it was called soundcentral) where you can download platinum sound set. Anyone there with Platinum sound set? Would really appreciate if some one can direct me to the right place or email it to me. Thanks a lot. Mike
Posted by: Mike on April 22, 2009 3:10 AMAwesome news guys, keep up the great work. Let's try and get SS pumped out and get back to the theming glory days!
Posted by: suleiman on April 22, 2009 6:11 PMCould you for the updated version of Mighty Mouse maybe make it so that it patches the Firefox and also Camino cursors? If I remember correctly these two apps would not take the Mighty Mouse cursors that was applied to the system back when I was using Tiger.
Posted by: Allan on April 22, 2009 8:35 PM@Mark, now that we are two do you think it's possible that we will see this feature in Mighty Mouse or do we need to gather around more people? :D
I hope Unsanity reads this.
I have re-discovered Firefox 3 with a build from yesterday and the GrApple Crisp theme which mimics Safari4 beta tabs and sometimes, if not always, the busy cursor in Firefox really bugs me.
Posted by: Allan on April 23, 2009 3:32 AMBrilliant
Best thing about having sounds is knowing when a disk is ejected by the eject sound.
Posted by: SV on April 24, 2009 10:25 AMXounds 2.5b2 seems to have lost its sound for a "File Copy Done," which I use to let me know when large file copies are done (such as before I trash it from the originating volume). Can you add that back in?
Posted by: Brian on April 25, 2009 9:00 AMThe reference to the monster was Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street. When you dumped an item into the trash, his green head would appear vertically up from the trash can, and he would sing: "Oh I love trash." and then when you emptied the trash, he would sing: "I love it because it's trash." I ripped those sound snippets from the old Oscar INIT and still have them.
Posted by: Brian on April 25, 2009 9:24 AMI was finally able to update all my remaining Macs to Leopard due to this one upgrade. Everything works wonderful and the sound is g-r-e-a-t!!! Please if at all possible don't run radio silent for so long. It makes folks nervous.
Posted by: Mac007 on April 25, 2009 3:28 PMHi, folks. Great to see new blog posts. I look forward to Labels X, whenever it appears.
Software is really, really hard. I'm out of practice, but twenty years ago I wrote four thousand line programs for the old Mac OS; I knew x86 assembler back in the days of DOS. Some of your customers may not understand what this takes. (4K lines is not a very big program, and it occupies eighty pages single-spaced. Most people find it tiring to read eighty pages of logical argument, never mind write 'em and keep 'em all in your head at once.)
Thanks for your wonderful programs, which improve my working environment greatly.
Posted by: David Derbes on April 26, 2009 8:49 AMGreat updates (finally) with Xounds and Windowshade.
Just waiting on the all-important Adobe CS3 bug to be ironed out of my beloved MenuMaster and then I'll be happy (and will be donating again). You need to solve it guys. It's driving me NUTS not have MM in Tiger any more (I only have Leopard on the newer MacPros) but am waiting for Snow Leopard to upgrade all of them.
Anyway, good work so far. I thought you'd left us all forever.
Posted by: Mark J.Cairns on April 28, 2009 7:57 AMAllmost perfect!
i just detected 2 bugs:
1. Its's not possible to uncheck Xounds Enabled
2. FrontRow get very noisy !
Is there a possibility to exclude Xsounds for some applications as in the previous versions of Xsouns? Can we have it back? Am I missing something? Thanks, Mike
Posted by: Mike on June 7, 2009 1:34 PMXounds does not work in Snow Leopard. Here is a good alternative:
