I'm not sure I understand the logic behind encouraging users to buy non-Lion compatible software to determine which haxies should be prioritized for Lion compatibility. I already use Lion, so why would I pay for software that isn't compatible yet?

The primary reason is to gauge support for which haxies people still care about and to fund the work on Lion versions.

It's entirely possible Lion has features that make some of our haxies obsolete, this discount code is designed to track that.

First, delighted there will be Lion versions. However, if you already have the haxies from SL and are just waiting for the Lion version to become available (Fruitmenu and Windowshade, please), why buy them again with the LION-PREPARE discount? It would seem rather pointless if you decide that FM and WS require too much work to upgrade (viz. Shapeshifter and SL). Very willing to support and very happy there will be upgrades.

I waited for the Labels X upgrade before upgrading to Snow Leopard and I'm doing the same with Lion. Here's hoping Labels X is first out the door and I already pre-ordered my two copies ;-)

I agree. The SL haxies have been out for years, I've ALREADY paid for the ones I want. Why buy them again?? Plus, with no ETA, I might find better replacements in the meantime, and I don't want to waste my money on something I'm never going to use if it can't get released in a timely manner.

This is so badly flawed. I have previously bought EVERY haxie you have ever made and found them extremely useful. I have no problem paying upgrades for the extensive work you will have to undertake to make Lion versions, but to expect people to send cash now for products that may or may not see the light of day is presumptuous at best and fraudulent at worst. It is an appalling business model designed to ensure your early demise. Get real. Your track record of keeping people informed is abysmal - your previous post on this page was dated Feb 2010. Your sluggishness in producing SL versions was extremely disappointing. Now, suddenly months after Lion is released you decide you MIGHT have another go by dipping into your mailing list one last time, but only if your users fund you up front. What kind of an asinine decision is that?

There is a design flaw in the promotional, Rosyna, for those of us who follow faithfully have no need of any new haxie among those available ... so as one noted, I'd have to buy again what I have already bought in order to be registered as having a new. My favorite haxies are Fruit Menu, Labels-X, MenuMaster, and long lost and mourned Mighty Mouse, alphabetical order only. Menu Master is already broken under 10.6.8 with Safari 5.1.1 (6534.51.22). (When a menu item is already long, the shortcut doesn't stick.)

I'm especially interested in WindowShade and Labels-X. I appreciate the discount and am quite willing to pay for these haxies. Thanks to Unsanity's team for their continuing interest in our wishes/needs.

I was shocked but pleasantly surprised to receive this notice in my email. I have no problem paying upgrade fees for all my haxies. (I have purchased them all) This paying ahead the release strategy seems a bit off though. Maybe if you offered a refund if for some reason the Haxies were not updated for Lion? Just a thought. Great news you are back. I'll be happy to donate upgrades for Fruit Menu, Windowshade, Labels, Xounds as I paid for the the version 1 only and some discount when upgrade 2 was available, but to pay upfront for something which would never see the light . . .not sure about that. I get paid for what I have done, not for what I might not.

Another vote to pay if/when Xounds & Fruit Menu come out with Lion compatibility. Not really interested in re-buying applications that currently don't work but glad to hear from you that you are working on updates.

This should give you a reasonable idea of how many people would pay how much for upgrades, and it would be a safe invest for people because they only pay for what gets programmed.

I understand what you are doing, and I'm fine with paying for new versions of the two Haxies I use, which are FruitMenu and Windowshade X, however, I'm concerned that I would be paying for the new versions, and then they are never produced due to lack of interest.

But, if I know they are going to be produced at some point int he future, than I'm fine with buying them now. I sure haven't paid for any updates in a long time.

So I decided to go ahead and order FruitMenu and Windowshade X, since they are available for Snow Leopard, and as you said, that means they will be available for Lion.

But now I'm having an issue with the webstore. The first item I place in the cart does not have the discount. The second does, (but it's not a 45% discount). If I remove the first one, then the remaining one goes back to full price.

Also, they are not getting a 45% discount. They are going from $15 to $13.50. It should be $8.25.

Good to know that if it is an SL haxie it will be a Lion haxie. First sign of a beta on twitter for any haxie and I'll buy the FM and WS SL versions, even though I have them. And, yes, very good to see you are up and running again.

All the same, I've reordered and downloaded legacy versions under the discount program, even though they won't work yet. I want to encourage you to get on with the Lion upgrade. You're asking people to speculate on upgrades. How did that even pass the smell test, let alone a post?

One suggestion. Be more prompt and upfront with what's going on behind the scenes as Lion betas are developed. Inadequate communication about SL beta development (even on Twitter) turned quite a number of customers off.

Oh, yeah, I'm buying TWO licenses for FruitMenu and Windowshade. These are critical for me, and I don't care what you charge for them, paid upgrade, whatever. I waited on these before moving to Snow Leopard, and I'm waiting on them before moving to Lion. I need 'em!

I'm in complete agreement with the complaints about the strategy Unsanity is taking with regard to Lion upgrades.

I recommend Unsanity refund the money users have so far paid for "upgrades" and forge ahead with Lion compatibility.

As a longtime user of Unsanity's products, each OS X upgrade has been more painful than the last. I am down to one haxie which, truth be told, I learned to live without because of the slow compatibility update for Snow Leopard.

At this point I'm moving on to Lion and hoping Unsanity will come along but I'm pretty much indifferent.

I say all this not to threaten or cajole Unsanity, only to provide some insight into a mindset that they are cultivating due to their market approach. Basically, some loyal users are being turned into indifferent (and hostile) users and defecting users.

I've been a user of Fruitmenu, X-Sounds and WindowShade for a long time. I love the Haxies and love what they do. What I DON'T love is your seeming inability to support your customers in anything like a timely manner. Lion wasn't a surprise to any of us but it seems to have been one to you. This leads me to believe that either you are a "fly by night" organization that is sinking or that you just plain could care less about the people who have help'd you earn a living so far.

Starting today I'm not going to be using your products any longer and will pay no further money to you for any new products until they are commercially available. Your sales tactics are ridiculous and border on fraud. Too bad you couldn't seem to keep abreast of the changes, whatever their scope, in OSX as it progressed. Windowshade is the only thing that's kept me sane since OSX discarded that great piece of functionality from Classic. I'm fine with paying for the upgrade - just get it out in beta for us, PLEASE. Working on a 13" laptop is tough without it.

It's either difficult to do, or no one cares about this feature, but there's no other alternative.

Right now, I'm learning to live without it. Still willing to pay, but annoyed at the delay. My only guess is Unsanity products are not your prime source of income, so come in 3rd or 4th on the priority list. Which is fine -- it's your decision to make, just as spending our money is ours.

OK, I bit the bullet and purchased Windowshade, Fruitmenu and Xounds. I really hope that by doing so, it speeds up the development of these haxies.

The Devs here have gotten lazy.

They seem disinterested in continuing their products and have subsequently contintued to slip further and further behind.

Take a look at their current chart for the transition from 10.5 to 20.6 - MOST of their products never made it to 10.6 (unless they were simply lazy and did not update the compatibility page).

And now they are not going to upgrade anything unless they get enough Users to pay for a product in advanced - prior to development ? AND they convey that it might be months before anything tangible is outed ?

What that means is by the time that OS X 10.8 is released - Unsanity MIGHT have a couple of Betas ready for testing on Lion.

This is nothing new - they have been doing development like this for years and the timetable gets longer and longer every transition.

What are we supposed to do Unsanity - stay 1 OS behind the times just so that we can use your software ? Frak that !

Develop the damned software - develop it in a very timely manner so that the current OS you are developing for is still current - stabilize it and I might buy something from you again.

I'm wondering why we are paying for compatibility updates - with a lack of new features from one version to the next. The past couple of versions really have not added anything new to the functionality - just made each title work on an OS.

And YES - I have been around since the early days when we were supposed to get free upgrades for life.

Most folks will not pay you money for imaginary products. This is not pre-school and we are not playing make-believe.

And YES - I am almost tempted to simply send you money - wait 6 months - then bring you up on Fraud charges.

Change your business model - stop rejecting your User base - get your shit together - give us regular and current feedback on the development cycles and either run your company or shut it down.

Why not just charge for updates to each new major version of Mac OS X? That should bring in enough revenue to justify keeping your software up to date. Definitely better than the current situation. I've prepaid for WindowShade, and would likely pay for other software if and when it's updated.

The Better Business Bureau in Phoenix has received complaints against Unsanity, LLC (located in Phoenix, AZ) regarding problems with product/service. It is no surprise that Unsanity has yet to respond to the complaints. The BBB has posted a rating of F for this company.

Unsanity has my money - am I happy with their lack of attention to their loyal base? Of course not. But I don't want them for friends - I want their product. I still hope they will come through in the end. If not, won't be the first time I've pissed away a couple of bucks - but on the flip side, life would be significantly better if I could run WindowShade on OSX Lion...

Inaccuracies aside, this is a “catch up” release. Don’t see any reason for Windows 7 users to move over.

Equally, though, I haven’t seen anything in Windows 8, so far, that would persuade an OSX user to switch.
