Mmm, Icons!

Rosyna asked for a FontCard icon, and since I felt guilty for typing out that pointless monkeys post, I figured I might do something more productive, so here it is:

fontcard-icon.png

I've been asked to make a 'dark looking' icon, so don't blame me for it being, um, dark. After I've made it, though, I've been told that the dark was meant as in techno-future-cyberpank style. Ah well. Anyway, here we go (and now I can earn a place other than 'Did Not Disturb' in the FontCard's about box). ;)

nice icon - maybe a teeeensy bit too close to the old file maker icon : ) ... ok, here's my two brainfarts (if you guys use it i'd like an honorary mention in the app's about box and access to a beta version of ape that works with panther - i need my fruit menu and window shade x back : ) : )

1. a traditional rolodex ( like the first product on the page but with a nicely polished stainless steel frame), open to the front with the rolodex card from your icon showing.

2. a rolodex (same link as above) like the third product from the bottom with the rolodox card from your icon in the front (or somwhere in the middle, half pulled out - nice perspective)

cheers, : )

Wow, that's way too dark for my tastes (not placing blame, simply an observation). If the bottom drawer weren't open, I wouldn't even be able to tell what it is. And I don't really understand the file cabinet as a wysiwyg font menu analogy. Maybe that's just me though.

A restaurant menu comes to mind, with lines of text too small to read (it's an icon, after all), but obviously in different fonts.

eff, i like the rolodex idea - I might try to come up with something along those lines...or at least blow some time trying. ;)
