There's a bug in Mighty Mouse 1.2 that prevents valid registrations from being accepted properly. There's a semi-public beta of Mighty Mouse 1.2.1 here. I do not guarantee that it will resolve the registration issue, since I've had conflicting reports on what the problem is. If you're affected by this issue and are adventurous enough to try a beta, please contact me to tell me whether it worked or not. You can email me at my first name (actor Priestly, mythical guy who hung out with aargonauts) at a lil' company named Unsanity, which is a dot-com.
You should log out after installing.
The beta also resolves an issue with cursor scaling not being properly applied at log in. But please remember, it's a beta - if you're not comfortable with testing, stay away!

trying out the beta now, granted i've only rebooted once since installing, it seems to be working out pretty well :) no complaints here.
don't know if this had an effect but i uninstalled the older version before installing the beta.
Works great! No longer have the registration issue. I just installed it over the previous version and rebooted. No problems as of yet!
Posted by: Mike on May 12, 2005 6:40 PMAfter installing 1.2 and rebooting, I suddenly lost my imported CurXPTheme (it is called Solara, check it out, it's great in a dominantely blue environment). I can't seem to drag-and-drop as I used to do in 1.13. Please look into this.
Posted by: Nord-Jan Vermeer on May 13, 2005 1:46 PMCorrection! I tried to drop the Solara.CurXPTheme, instead of the folder which is generated when expanding the former file.
Everything safe and sound (and Solara!) now.
I installed the beta and it seems to be working fine. I havn't received the message or reset of the mouse. Thanks
Posted by: Bill Barrett on May 15, 2005 11:34 AMAfter a couple of weeks of having to reset about every hour i picked up the beta. Been going for three days now with no reset, looks like it fixed the registration problem, many thanks,
Posted by: James McGee on May 16, 2005 6:46 AMI have sent Unsanity a support request, because even with this beta, I can't get my cursor to be themed (after deleting everything) for more than 5 minutes (after I install Mighty Mouse). I really hope that someone will be able to help me with this issue.

Posted by: bunam on May 18, 2005 2:14 AMinstalled the beta over the original

thanks
Posted by: pjslover on May 18, 2005 4:00 PMWorks great ! No longer have the registration issue. I just installed it over the previous version and rebooted. No problems as of yet
Posted by: Bidule200 on May 18, 2005 7:00 PMInstalled beta, no more registration issues. Great!! Thanks!
Posted by: Joe Riha on May 19, 2005 2:42 AMUpgraded from 10.3.9 to 10.4.1 on an iBook G4. Afterwords, upgraded to MightyMouse 1.2 and APE 1.5. My MM cursor settings (GlassiousRed) were not there after restart and I could not get my favorite cursors to load. Upgraded to MM 1.2.1b1 and this problem went away. Yea! Thanks.
Posted by: Jeff Earickson on May 19, 2005 11:32 AMInstalled the beta and I still cannot get other cursors to work defaults to spinning beach ball even thou the cursor I want is still in the pref pane and works on test- This is the wait cursor.
Posted by: David Haack on May 19, 2005 12:26 PMSame as comment above. Tried numerous installation variations, fixed disk and permissions, tried different cursor sets, reboot, etc. Still defaults to spinning beach ball. Saw the wait cursor I wanted one time for about 5 seconds immediately after the first install and then it was blown away. Nothinge since.
Posted by: Mac Ream on May 19, 2005 3:21 PMNot sure why you'd think repairing disk permissions would affect the issue you're having at all.
Try installing Mighty Mouse for the current user instead of for all users and see if that addresses the issue. You will have to log out after installing it for the current user only.
My joy with the beta was short lived. I got GlassiousRed to reload once, but my cursors will not start up at boot time, nor can I reload them from the Preferences. When I did the install of the MM beta, I did an install for all users. Suggestions on how to get things working again?
Posted by: Jeff Earickson on May 20, 2005 6:18 AMWell your people need to call their people and please get both to work as I cannot load any cursors within ShapeShifter or utilizing MM independently. Thanks.
Posted by: CREB on May 20, 2005 5:15 PMRosyna,
Should I repair the persmissions? ;)
Okay, okay, I know...
Posted by: CREB on May 20, 2005 5:17 PMJeff Earickson and Mac Ream, please contact me at my first name at Unsanity.com. You sound as though you have a different problem, but I'd like to make sure that it's squared away as well before releasing 1.2.1.
On another note, the 1.2.1b1 beta that's linked above appears to be solving the registration issue in all cases.
Posted by: Jason Harris on May 20, 2005 5:20 PMI've bumped the Mighty Mouse beta to 1.2.1b2. This resolves an issue that appeared in Tiger for people who install Mighty Mouse for all users, rather than just for their individual user.
It's at the same link as above.
If you've installed that beta, applied a custom cursor set, REBOOTED and are still having issues, please don't hesitate to email me. My name is jason, and the company is Unsanity.com.
Posted by: Jason Harris on May 22, 2005 2:51 PMAfter installing this beta and finding that it would not do either the cursor change or size,I tried the Apple Universal access to increase the cursor size. It changes the size but after some time it revert to the default size. This would appear to be an Apple Tiger problem.
Posted by: David Haack on May 22, 2005 2:53 PMwas working great for about a day. Installed the latest mod update for shapeshifter and suddenly I cant skin my cursor all over again.
Posted by: Dorian Innes on May 23, 2005 3:17 AMJason,
Thanks for all your help! Everything seems to work just fine--so far. I have been playing with the cursors from other GUIkits and it a shame that MM, as a standalone, cannot take advantage of the great cursors sets that come in GUIkits for ShapeShifter. Somatic has an excellent cursor set.
Posted by: CREB on May 24, 2005 12:06 PMCREB, you can export a cursor set from a guiKit very easily. Apply the cursor set using ShapeShifter. Switch to Mighty Mouse and hit Export Cursors.
Posted by: Jason Harris on May 24, 2005 1:05 PMJason,
Thanks, but I am referring to those who have not opted for ShapeShifter. I am registered for both, and like the integration you get when you own both. Those who do not own both are missing out.
Posted by: CREB on May 24, 2005 2:01 PMThe beta seems to be working...lets cross our fingers.
Posted by: Joe Martin on May 25, 2005 12:01 PMIt still is NOT working. It is telling me I need to register MM, but if I open the control panel, it shows MM registered to me. Plus, I need to import the cursers back into MM once again. I think this is happening whenever the Mac sleeps.
Posted by: Nathan on May 26, 2005 8:17 PMI bet its fixed (don't have time to reboot right now).
So, we should really report bugs while we use 10.4.1 as Tiger (in some of us eyes) is a street cat in fact?
Same problems as Nathan posted on May 26.
I've deleted everything for MM, restarted, and re-entered the registration data. After a few hours the message appears and MM stops working again. The control panel indicates that I'm registered.
What's up with MM?
Posted by: Joe Beerman on May 31, 2005 9:12 AMStill not recognzing registration for me. If there's another beta in the works count me in. I'd really like to have Mighty Mouse functional again.
