Mighty Mouse
We have great news for you -- a brand new haxie available right now for your consumption! We call it Mighty Mouse. It allows you to redefine system cursors, edit them, animate them and magnify them. You can also download more cursor sets created by other users from our partner ResExcellence. ![]() So why is this utility great and how it is different from others serving the same purpose? First of all, it doesn't modifies any system files. This means you don't need to back up CoreGraphics.framework, you are not required to enter the administrator password, and you're saved from the whole hassle surrounding the process. Second, it allows you to redefine more cursors - namely, Arrow, I-Beam, Wait, Small Alias, Big Alias, Small Copy, Big Copy, Move and Forbidden. Third, you can animate any cursor you want - so you can have a cool looking animated arrow - so your Windows XP friends can finally shut up. Fourth, who said you are limited to 16x16 cursors? Cursors can be as big as you want. Want a 128x128 animated wait cursor? No Problem. Fifth, you can edit all the cursors right in the Mighty Mouse preference pane. Each frame of the animation can have its own alpha mask, allowing you to create beautiful animations. Sixth, you can share the cursors you have created and download the ones other users decided to share at ResExcellence, the premiere GUI customization website. Seventh, you can magnify the cursor so it takes more or less space on the screen - this can be very handy if you have special accessibility needs or just want your cursor be more easily locatable. Eighth, it is only US $10, just like our other haxies. We feel this is very reasonable for the amount of features Mighty Mouse offers. Oh, and it doesn't disables any features while unregistered - it will only remind you every hour and reset the cursors to the default state, so you can fully test drive it for as long as you would like. Give it a try and tell us what you think! Trackback Pings: TrackBack URL for this entry: Related:

Awesome. I guess I don't mind the hourly thing, though it means I'm not going to use it much until I register it. Too bad, I'd like to show it off accidentally between now and then :) Can you make it NOT nag me after the hour's up, simply put the cursors back to default? That'd be so much less annoying, and a really gentle reminder that it's time to reset or register it. Maybe not nag me after the first time, so I know what's going on. Posted by: Richard Soderberg on February 12, 2003 2:17 PMA more useful hack would be an option to use a button for scrolling windows left/right/up/down. Posted by: strobe on February 12, 2003 2:31 PMRichard: that's how it works. It will only nag you if you're using custom cursors. =) Posted by: slava on February 12, 2003 2:32 PMTwo comments: First, the default shadowed arrow cursor seems to have its hot spot in the wrong place. The hot spot needs to be in the upper-left-most black pixel. Right now it seems to be at the top of the shadow, which doesn't match the way it used to be. Secondly, on my Ti500, the default arrow doesn't have the shadow. Now it does. I'm not noticing much, though. It's cute, but before I buy it I need a non-hideous cursor set. Any recommendations? Posted by: Avi on February 12, 2003 2:42 PMFair enough; I guess clicking OK on a nag dialog keeps me conscientiously not-registering. I need an application to track all my unregistered applications. Irony would be if it was shareware. :) Posted by: Richard Soderberg on February 12, 2003 3:16 PMDAMMIT! Stop making things. I'm running out of money. :) Can mighty mouse import cursors from Stardock's CursorXP? Posted by: David on February 12, 2003 4:40 PMAgreed, stop making things! I saved up $20, and now I'm gonna wait till i get more to save on mailing costs. Arrgggghhh!!! Posted by: Musics4Me on February 12, 2003 5:20 PMI dig it. I just got paid, so I bought a registration cause I love Unsanity just that much ;) (the way I see it, I'm over-paying for the free haxies by paying the small, small fees on the shareware haxies). I'm just now on the prowl for some interesting cursors - I saw a cool XP hand-with-finger-pointing one on TechTV the other day and I remember thinking "*sigh* if only there were an easy way for me to use that baby on my mac, and make it smaller than that". You read my mind, heh. That being said, I have a few measly suggestions: - An option to rotate the cursors. I like some of the right-pointing ones, but I don't like that they point right. - An option to output all frames of a given cursor to a folder, whereas the user could then just open those babies in Photoshop, thus speeding the cursor-editing process up 10-fold. - Is there a way to just scale ONE of the cursors? For instance, if I think the mouse pointer is way too large, but when scaled down all the other cursors are way too small. - It seems the only cursor that can't be edited is the wait cursor attached to the arrow cursor. I rarely see the wait cursor, but I see the wait-on-the-end-of-the-arrow-cursor in Chimera quite often. I think it needs to be "beautified" - but I don't know if that's just a Chimera cursor and therefore not changeable. All in all, it's a damn good surprise haxie - there was no talk of this thing in the past, and you sure blew the hell out of "BeachBall". Keep up the good work, fellas! Posted by: RevMitcz on February 12, 2003 7:27 PManother great program guys! i spend way too much time staring at the spinning beach ball, so i'm gonna have to pass on the app for now. Besides the new price point is a bit bad. ;) kidding. anyway, how about a free haxie that applies a drop shadow to the arrow cursor, because thats all this program has that I would use for long. Open Safari and do an option drag in the bookmark manager and you'll get the arrow with a small black + instead of the Finder's green ball with a white + in the center. If there were a way to change the cursors in these apps as well that would be great. Imagine being able to make the pointing hand for links in Mail and Safari match your custom icons. Posted by: VGZ on February 12, 2003 9:26 PMHEY!!!!!! Look at Unsanity coming through again!! Can you please post the cursor's name that that you use in the 'APE Manager' prefpane's documentation for MM? The one with the red circle? I also have CursorXP and I installed this cursor a while back. XP went south. Yeah, I know. Surprising :( Anyway I could never find that archive or that cursor set again. So could you please respond with the cursor set's name? Thank you. Posted by: David on February 13, 2003 7:30 AMyou forgot to mention one thing It kicks ass! :-) I regged it within minutes of downloading - pretty much like I did with all your other 'haxies'. it's kinda hard to find fault with it - as usual. Thank you! Posted by: tersono on February 13, 2003 7:34 AMDavid: the cursor is Copper Deck II: http://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?searchtext=&sort=Downloads&order=Descending&library=25 Posted by: slava on February 13, 2003 1:52 PMThe regular arrow cursor you guys use to replace the Apple arrow cursor is definetly not the same. You can see this when you click the "test cursor" button and your mouse jumps slightly. Posted by: Etan on February 13, 2003 1:59 PMHi! I had some trouble with my Mighty Mouse too: The scroll wheel didn't go down :(... Finally I decided to open it, following these instructions http://www.applematters.com/index.php/gallery/category/C4/ (THANX)... It's a problem with some magnets, I rearranged them again and voila!!... Patience is needed though... They're very small magnets... The problem was Dirt. Conclusion: Clean your hands before touching your mighty mouse... Juan Rada... PS1: Thanks to Applematters.com!!! This company is the best!!!!!!! Every one of my top 10 apps...apes...haxies, are from you! It's good to know that there's still some good software companies out there. Your software is awsome, & your prices are afordable. Keep up the great work! -Unsanity's #1 fan Posted by: THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!! on September 21, 2007 6:00 PM |
