Silk 2.0 has finally been released to the public. Get it now.
Hmm, both VersionTracker and MacUpdate were extremely fast in posting the updates, although VT was slightly faster. Maybe 2 minutes compared with 3 at MacUpdate? MacUpdate also left the 1.5 info in there for some reason. I love the Mac software update websites they give me such a warm feeling inside. Then again, could be a weak bladder. Should have that checked.
UPDATE: Those filthy crashing errors should be fixed now. It was caused by the "caching" feature I introduced earlier. If the caching dictionary was NULL, it'd crash on CFDictionaryContainsValue. That fix caused a memory leak because I was CFReleasing a value that wasn't retained.

What did you guys end up deciding on the Silk freeware front? I know the old 1.1 version is still available, but at one time it was mentioned here that after expiration the 2.0 version would revert to the 1.1 level of functionality. This would be a nice thing for those who want a version of Silk using the APE backend (especially the soon-to-be-released faster APE) but don't need the full functionality of the new Silk.

Supercrashy! Every other app is crashing on launch, right after installation...I've uninstalled, DiskWarriored, repaired permissions and it is still happening. There's another guy with the issue posting on VT.
I would email Unsanity, but I can't open my email program.
Be careful out there.
Hold shift down when you log into OS X, this will disable silk and all haxies. Then email me the crash log.
Posted by: Rosyna on June 2, 2003 4:22 PMNothing but praise and worth wait! No crashes yet and trying hard so I guess all is well with my platform. No qualms with the price either (I love all Unsanity creations).
Posted by: CREB on June 2, 2003 4:25 PMThose filthy crash bugs should be fixed now. Just redownload the silk 2.0 disk iamge.
Posted by: Rosyna on June 2, 2003 6:36 PMI did get it to crash every application I opened, but the new version stopped all of that so far. Also, can you please indicate the newer version such as 2.01 or 2.1? Thanks.
Posted by: CREB on June 2, 2003 7:57 PMWhat happened to all the negative reviews at VersionTracker?
I guess because you're a paid advertiser there, you can get them deleted. Censorship!
Posted by: Guy on June 2, 2003 9:12 PMI guess it would be censorship. However, all of them are still on VT. None were removed. Just click all feedback.
Posted by: Rosyna on June 2, 2003 9:17 PMWorks well, but changes my default Path Finder font everytime I launch Path Finder so that I have to change it back.
Posted by: Ben on June 2, 2003 10:48 PMRosyna. The negative posts are gone. Your post is showing as the "first" post against version 2.0. Prior to you making that posting, there were several scathing reviews of Silk 2.0. On visiting later, they were removed.
I could believe that maybe one or two users went back and deleted their reviews once they realized you'd fixed the bug. But all five users? Seems unlikely.

Maybe you should contact the people at VersionTracker; they should be able to tell you what is up, neh?
They are all still there... http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/15012&mode=feedback&vid=All Everyone that I have ever seen
Posted by: Rosyna on June 3, 2003 8:21 PMMaybe this should be send directly to the BUG DEP, but I have reverted to the ole' but very useable Silk 1.1. Unfortunately the reminder to pay for Silk 2.0 keeps a-poppin'-up in the same frequence as it did when I finished trying out Silk 2. Now what...... Pay $10 to make everybody happy (but myself)?
Posted by: Ton on June 16, 2003 6:10 AMSo how do you tell Silk that you want to change the Finder's fonts?
Do you have to tell it whatever the Finder's original font is, and then show the replacement? And what is the font shown by the Finder these days?
I remember OS 9 fondly for being able to affect things like that directly.
