WindowShade X is 3 years old today. So what better time to release version 3.5? :)
MIP-ed windows, say hello to your new sibling, FOT windows!
Lots of people have requested it, and we felt another acronym sibling for Minimize In Place was needed, so one of the spiffy new features in 3.5 is the assignable action Float On Top. The windows even get badged with a little mini WindowShade X icon near the 3 buttons at the top left of the window.
New icon, new interface, new features, compatibility fixes, and bug fixes. Lots of good stuff for you to enjoy.
Labels X
Labels X is also sitting on the ol' release counter with an update to version 1.6.1. This update fixes that nasty generic icon in the sidebar bug. Snag it to relieve some unnecessary stress in your Finder's life.

Great work guys! Well. I expected nothing less from you! :)
After sooo many free updates, it's about time to show support by donating. Come on, give Unsanity some lovin'!
Posted by: Sascha on October 18, 2004 3:48 PMI notice a bug, or something. When a window is minimized-in-place, I've got "single click" enabled to bring the window back. But this doesn't work unless the minimized window's application is in the front. If another app is active, a click on the MIP window makes the application active; another click is required to un-minimize the window.
In general, it seems Wrong that a MIP window can still have focus.
Posted by: Jeremy on October 18, 2004 4:02 PMI love Windowshade and appreciate polish on 3.5... here's a feature I would pay extra for-- instead of hiding MIPed windows in Expose, give us an option to add them to expose.
Adding this feature would mean that I could MIP virtually everything and use a single gesture to get at all windows. Right now I have to stop for a second and figure out if the window is minimized or hidden somewhere on screen...
Another (less critical but useful) feature would be key commands to minimize all windows on screen. And another to reconstitute all windows on screen.
Posted by: raul on October 18, 2004 5:51 PMDisappointed. Signed up to beta test. Provided feedback, bug reports, and -feature requests-. Was ignored. Thanks for nothing.
Posted by: kwyjibo on October 18, 2004 6:33 PMI agree with the request for an option to make MIP windows participate in Expose. That would rule.
Posted by: Jeremy on October 18, 2004 6:42 PMWhy do minimize in place windows magnify toward the bottom right? It looks... awkward. It would be more natural if they magnified equally in all directions; enlarging from a centered axis.
Posted by: kwyjibo on October 18, 2004 8:57 PMIt would be awesome to have a function where background windows became transparent. Kind of like a single-app mode from OS 9, but much cooler and OS X-ish, you know? This was mentioned at the MacNN forums, and it sounds great.
Posted by: Andrew on October 19, 2004 7:28 AMCCN - We can't fix the Illustrator issue, it is a problem on Adobes end. Disable WSX and relaunch Illustrator. You'll notice a double click in the title bar still has no affect.
Posted by: Brian on October 20, 2004 10:32 AMFigured as much. Can't you fix the bug in Illustrator CS for Adobe? If I have to wait for Adobe to fix it, it will be about six months, cost $299.00, and be called Adobe® Illustrator® CS™ Xtreme™.
While you are fixing that bug in Illustrator CS, I also have a list of a few others in there that need fixin'.
Thanks in advance. ;)
Posted by: CCN on October 20, 2004 10:24 PMAs a sysadmin I have to tell you I really love the changes to the registration procedure. I no longer have to enter the registration info each time I create a new user. Awesome! Can't wait for this to reach FruitMenu, and the other haxies.
PS: I did buy 50 copies of almost every haxie.
