FontCard 1.3.2b2: The Bloody Revenge of the Real Slim Shady

This is primarily a bug fix release. And I'm using it as a chance to get SCR included with FC. SCR install has now moved to be a part of UI instead of part of the FC PP.

If all goes well, this version will be shrunked (yes, I said shrunked) and released to the internets sometime early next week. I'm pushing out this release before I leave for Japan for 2 months Friday (the 4th).

When you first start up this version in an app with FAP sets enabled and inactive previews on, you should see an unsexy FontCard icon in the menu bar and a progress indicator.

If you have any crashing issues or stalls with this beta, please turn on logging in the FC preference pane, make the application crash, and email me the crash log and the console log (/Applications/Utilities/Console).

Version 1.3.2b2

  • Fixed the icon for the "Global" entry in the preference pane.
  • Changed a Crash Catcher for Macromedia applications as Marcomedia's lame use of Macrovision "protection" caused it to go crazy when enabling Crash Catcher.

Version 1.3.2b1

  • Fixed a combinatorial speed hit when opening or scrolling a font menu with inactive fonts in it.
  • Fixed a crash when opening a popup menu if FontCard was not ready for a menu to open yet.
  • Fixed a problem that prevented inactive font previews from working if the name of the home folder differed in case (Bob vs. bob) from the name specified in NetInfo.
  • Addressed an issue that would cause the FontCard menu to appear in places it shouldn't, especially in the various palette menus of Adobe Illustrator CS.
  • Fixed a delay that could occur when opening menus if calculating the contents of their submenus was compute intensive.
  • FontCard should now list FontAgent Pro sets that only contain other sets and do not contain any fonts themselves.
  • Addressed a problem that caused some incomplete font items in a FontAgent Pro sets to slow down inactive font displays.
  • The mark duplicate fonts option works again.
  • Fonts are now sorted in all font sets except for Recents and Favorites, which are sorted by use.
  • Fixed a problem in which the FontCard menu would be appended to the end of the font menu in some Cocoa applications.
  • Increase compatibility with Macromedia Fireworks.
  • Added support for Photoshop Elements (it is treated in the same manner as the regular Photoshop).
  • Improved support for applications that insist on supporting bitmap only fonts (like Aachen) even though Mac OS X has very poor support for bitmap fonts.
  • The Crash Catcher works correctly again and now catches crashes caused by corrupted name entries in a font.
  • Addressed a problem in QuarkXPress that would cause the font menu in the Usage dialog to be disabled if the font menu in the menu bar had been opened beforehand.

Your example doesn't make much sense to me. You could just search the text for http://.... I see the ability to search by different items useful, but Adium already does this for free. So why should I give you $20 to do it "better"? To be fair, your app could be quite genius, but I haven't tried it yet. Feel free to fully dismiss my negative commentary.
