APE 1.3, Labels X 1.5

There we go, just as I promised, Application Enhancer 1.3 and Labels X 1.5 are out. If you're going to download Labels X, you can skip APE 1.3, as Labels X installer contains APE 1.3 inside. ;)

What's new (I was talking about this before, so just to summarize):

  • Application Enhancer 1.3:
    • Substantial speed improvements with the application launch times.
    • Fixed some bugs in the APE Manager preference pane.
    • APE Modules can be installed by double-clicking them.
    • Double-clicking on existing APE Modules will now open the APE Manager preference pane with settings for that module.
    • Extended and enhanced the Application Enhancer SDK (available as a separate download).
  • Labels X 1.5:
    • New Label menu in the Finder's file menu to quickly set labels on selected files.
    • New shortcuts to set labels (available in the new Label menu in the Finder) - Cmd+Option+0 to 7.
    • Included label command-line tool (installed to /usr/local/bin or ~/bin). You can get and set label information from the command line by invoking it.
    • Labels information will now be visible in Open and Save dialogs in all applications.
    • Applications using labels data (such as Eudora) will now correctly fetch and use label colors and names set in Labels X.
    • Label changes on the Desktop are now visible immediately, without having to click elsewhere outside of the affected icons.
    • Optimized and updated for Application Enhancer v1.3.

Either way, I recommend APE 1.3 update to all of the haxie users!

Direct download: Labels X 1.5, Application Enhancer 1.3.

Thanks for your support!

Ahh, slava??... The new hotkeys for Labels X conflict with Stuffit's finder menu.
Cmd+Option+1 = archive the file as .SITX
Cmd+Option+2 = archive as .SIT
Cmd+Option+3 = archive as .ZIP
These can be changed in stuffit thankfully. You should add the ability to change the hotkeys for Labels X.

The launch time improvements are fantastic. What the heck did you do to fix them up????

Hi

'Just posted this as a comment to Windowshade and thought it wouldn't be out of place here.'

I think Unsanity does a great job and WindowshadeX is a absolute must have.

Anyway would it be possible to implement a feature/preference into a future revsion that would make an inactive window transparent (with all the user definability, ie percentage and on/off choices etc) along with the current ability to change shadow settings. That way it would make it even easier to distinguish the front most window. I know of a haxie out there (Focus Layer I think) that goes someway to make the front window highlighted as such but to me it is ungainly, I'm sure Unsanity could go a lot better and implement this in WindowshadeX.

On the update to APE, I'm sure that my System Preferences open much faster now with this release (1.3).

Cheers

Richard

Will it ever be possible for finder windows sorted by label to retain that setting after being closed, logouts, restarts, etc?

Still, a great haxie. Thanks for the update.

I bought WindowShade X shortly after the APE was invented. It's unreplaceable now. Or is that irreplaceable? Whatever.

has anyone else notice problems with APE 1.3 and the Dock?

I had problems with the Finder "running" triangle (ClearDock) not showing up in the Dock and not getting sounds played (Xounds) in the popup menus for Dock items. Downgrading to APE 1.2.1 seemed to fix it.

:)

ps. I'm running nearly every haxie that Unsanity has released and wouldn't want to do without them...

Like Richard Hess June 6 comments, I also have a problem with APE 1.3 and the dock !

The Finder "running" triangle with ClearDock is not showing in the dock. It came back after I disabled APE 1.3.

Where can I download APE 1.2.1 ?
