While Rosyna is making Silk 2.0 final, I've done some work too. Being outside all day (and without Internet) makes me pretty productive, so a bunch of updates were done in the passed week:
- Labels X now has a fully functional Label menu in the Finder's File menu and (wee) will update the icons on the Desktop immediately (see below).
- Application Enhancer now features a slick technology that allows you to double-click on the .ape files to install them or select in the APE Manager;
- FruitMenu got an option to sort "folders first" in the file listings; it also will now display a submenu for the APE Manager preference pane entry with all installed APEs. If you choose one, APE Manager will open and select the chosen APE module for configuration. Handy.
- WindowShade X is under active development once again (since yesterday evening). Nothing too exciting to announce at the moment yet, but I am pretty pleased with it this far.

We plan to release most of these in the first week of June, if all goes well, so stay tuned!

Sounds great!
I like this haxies ;-)
For APE,I think it would be nice, if APE Manager would check versions of the modules and have an update feature.
BTW: Is Mint dead?
Sounds great, Slava! Is this "Folders First" function for the Finder, as in will it work in Column View?
Posted by: Ken on May 29, 2003 10:11 AMKen: nope, this is only for FruitMenu's file listings in the, um, menus. ;)
Tobsen: Mint is not dead, but we haven't yet gotten around to updating it. Sadly.
Back to mother nature until Saturday for me!
Posted by: slava on May 29, 2003 11:29 AMAh, too bad. But you did say "in the file listings", and FruitMenu does work with the Finder. ;-)
So as for WSX, any chance of Minimize In Place soon?
Posted by: Ken on May 29, 2003 1:11 PMVery nice.
Any idea or plans to put SysPref icons in the Fruitmenu nested 'SysPrefs' menu?
Any idea when an update to Xounds will be released?
Posted by: David on May 29, 2003 2:05 PMHey, will that menu appear above the Quit item? I have Quit turned on in the Finder and I don't want it to be undershadowed by the Labels menu. It would look too.. non-Mac like.
How about you move it up to where it would have been in OS 9. I think under the Get Info menu item.
It's more Intuative that way.
Posted by: Jason Anderson on May 29, 2003 6:30 PMIf Panther doesn't include a feature to sort Columns view by something other than Alphabetical, I hope you guys make one. I really don't like how it's sorted. I want it sorted by Kind. That might be an easy thing for you guys to do.
Posted by: Jason Anderson on May 29, 2003 6:32 PMOoh, that minimize in place feature sounds REALLY neat!
And my Mac would do so much better of a job at that then the stupid Sun UNIX box I have to work with at school....
Posted by: Inspired on May 29, 2003 8:14 PMAs seen in the screenshot, the Labels menu is added to the FILE menu, the Quit Finder option is on the Finder's application menu.
Posted by: on May 30, 2003 12:43 AMA bug report that will hopefully make it into FruitMenu before the next version is released:
In the Finder contextual menu, trying to "Move to..." an item that is in the Trash, causes it to be copied to the destination, but not removed from the Trash.
The problem with this is that it leaves no visual feedback to the user that the "move" occurred. The user selects "Move to..." and it looks as though nothing happens.
Posted by: Greg on May 31, 2003 7:15 AMi'd like to see somebody develop a "morse mouse." this would be a program that allows you to go beyond the double click and triple click of, say, ms word so that you could assign a wide variety of types of click to a wide variety of functions, long click short click for instance (morse code 'a') might be assigned to mean 'control-home'--go to the top of the screen, or 'select all' or whatever.
thanks, tom h
