10 Days Of Running MT-Blacklist 2

So, its been 10 days today since I installed MT-Blacklist 2.01b onto the MT 3 installation.

Some statistics to prove how useful the tool is:

  • Comment spams blocked: 102
  • Comment spams moderated: 19
  • Duplicates blocked: 0
  • Blacklist - Strings: 2996
  • Blacklist - URLPatterns: 33
  • Blacklist - Regexes: 31

Jay and the gang, if you're around at MacWorld SF '05, I owe you something nice (if I get a visa =).

It seems to be working pretty well for you guys.

Thanks salva! Glad it's working for you. Don't forget to play with the Max URL and Old Entry moderation settings on the config page. Those two features are key for blocking most of the spam that's not on your blacklist. In fact, I bet that if I were to empty my blacklist out, those two features alone would still catch more than 95% of my spam.

This is just a test of the blacklist dealies..... making sure I didn't mess anything up.

M-Blacklist looked useful at first to me, but after a while I noticed that I was spending a lot of time updating the blacklist. Actually more than I spent time deleting the SPAM.

My solution is, I just disallow all URLs in the replies. I am Instantly SPAM free.
