SafariNoTimeout 1.1 is out. No changes has been done code-wise, but this version includes the new version of the installer that won't tell you it installed Application Enhancer (if you didn't had it installed before) while it actually didn't (and couldn't, as the APE installer isn't even included inside of the package); plus it features the new icon, new installer icon as done by Max Rudberg - you will see more of these boxes when we release new versions of our stuff (example). Max did an outstanding job, as usual. [direct download]
A new version of MUMenu, 2.0, is available. As some of you may know, I was making MUMenu up to version 1.2. Now this task is taken by Peter Maurer, the author of Butler. Peter did an excellent job -- the menu looks much improved, has these funky icons and grey text everywhere, and looks pretty darn professional! Cheers.
One little downside is that it is no longer a Menu Extra plugin, so you can't drag it around anymore. But on the other hand, Menu Extras are not as easy to gain the same level of menu customization as NSStatusItems get. So either way, it's a nice update. [macupdate.com]
No, I lied. Our brand t-shirts are not really any cheaper. They still remain at the $13.50 price mark. BUT, to answer a popular request, we have added the US Postal Service shipping option (had to hand code all these annoying rate tables from pdf and html documents on the USPS site ;) ) -- so overall, if you get one of our t-shirts, they are much cheaper for you now, especially for international customers (compare $103 shipping for me via UPS vs $16.50 via USPS).
So if you've been looking out to buy a t-shirt, but been holding off because of the shipping prices, try it now. I particulary like the Old School t-shirt. ;)
Thanks for your feedback, too!
Just noticed a new Rammstein single out. I quite like their music... the most funky part is that 2 out of 4 tracks are remixes on the main single (Mein Teil) made by Pet Shop Boys. Perhaps, my favorite band of all time is still Pet Shop Boys (I can duck now?) - and their collaboration with Rammstein sounds pretty weird to me.
I'll wait for the single to become available in Russia. Sounds intriguing. =)
The amount of spam we are getting increases every other day (I beleive this is the case with most people). Two days ago it has reached a critical mark, even causing our little FreeBSD box to lag under heavy load induced by our custom version of SpamAssassin checking if these messages are really a spam.
A few numbers: at the peak time we have received 9721 spam emails in under 2 hours, originating from the same location, addressed to random addresses within unsanity.com domain (such as chec@unsanity.com, gidn@unsanity.com and thousands of others of similar nature).
As a result, we have finally moved to pair's SpamAssassin installation and I had to set all the emails coming to not known addresses within the unsanity.com domain to be ignored. All other domains we own (such as unsanity.net, .org, haxies.com, .net, .org and others) will have all incoming mail ignored.
This way, we can potentially lose some "non-spam" e-mails, but hopefully this will not happen. I encourage you to use the published email addresses if you want to reach us. If you've written us and we didn't respond, please re-send. I apologise for all the inconvenience -- but the SPAM is killing us otherwise.
I'm interested to hear the situation on the other sites -- how're you doing with the spam?
The Unsanity Store system is enterely written in-house, as we were not really happy with other solutions around in terms of flexibility and configurability to match our needs. So we have decided to code one up ourselves to allow the smoothest possible integration with own stuff.
I've coded plenty of web store scripts (back in the days when I was doing ocassional contract jobs with PHP), but this one took the most time to do, and by far is one of the most advanced I've done. Of course, it's nowhere near as advanced as the ones used in major merchant stores (like Victoria's Secret), but it covers our needs with plenty of little extras here and there. A few interesting features the store has:
The store required some changes in our SQL backend, and as a side effect, the support page lost code form now have no product popup - you just enter your email in the field, and it will email you all the codes it found that match that email. Should be more convenient.
Either way, this is a semi-big step for us, and lot of effort went into making it done. I hope the new system will make your experience even better -- and get one of these funky t-shirts! ;)
After much delay, we are happy to present our new web store!
Our store is full of all sorts of great features such as shipping calculation, volume discounts, multiple product purchase discounts, and coupons.
You can also finally order those Unsanity T-shirts that we've talked about for so long. :) They're available in 4 styles : Basic, Old School, Scuba Ghoul, and No Scuba Ghoul. ("scuba ghoul" is sort of misleading as the ghoul has no scuba gear on...but the name has stuck anyway)
We're pretty happy with how it's performing thus far, but bear with us if we run into a few glitches during our first few days of operation. (we still have our good friends at eSellerate running our backup store also)
Try it out and let us know what you think of it!
