I hope this encourages theme makers to churn out some more high quality themes... Things seem to have slowed down since the release of 1.2... Count me excited!

Hopefully people like my contribution :)

Posted by: Zac on October 24, 2004 10:16 AM

Posted by: Nate Friedman on October 24, 2004 2:08 PM

Zac, no, this particular upgrade is free for all registered users.

Posted by: slava on October 24, 2004 9:46 PM

Ooh, I can't wait... My guess is that it'll be to the current version what Kaleidoscope 2 was to Kaleidoscope 1, with much more flexibility and power in terms of parts of the appearance that can be changed. Yayayayay!

Will there be another theme contest for SS2? Nicely done SS2 movie poster...will it be available at the Unsanity Store?

Posted by: CREB on October 25, 2004 3:27 PM

Does this mean that guy will finally release that super duper theme that seemed so cool so many months ago. (Too lazy to search around and remember who and what this was exactly.)

Posted by: jay dub on October 25, 2004 5:10 PM

Tick, tock, tick, tock...

Eagerly awaiting the download, on what is now the morning of the 26th of October, 2004, Eastern Standard Time...

Posted by: Dan Rubin on October 26, 2004 3:37 AM

When is the estimated release time for us Europeans ?

Posted by: Freudian nightmare on October 26, 2004 4:00 AM

Hell... What about those of us in Japan, where there day has (as of now) only 4 hours remaining before it becomes the 27th?

Posted by: on October 26, 2004 4:09 AM

It is 26th! Come on! :D

Posted by: kwyjibo on October 26, 2004 5:23 AM

C'mon! Get it out, it's almost 9 AM here!

And I want that new version of ThemePark to come out.... :)

Posted by: Themer002 on October 26, 2004 5:50 AM

Looking sweet! HOPE it is comming very soon? What new shapeshifting features will it bring? Oh, the anticipation!!!

Posted by: holmfam on October 26, 2004 5:59 AM

Wakie Wakie...

Posted by: Mekugi Ana on October 26, 2004 6:07 AM

It looks like, according to Macthemes.net's supersecret new page, contextual menus now have full skinning support. But it could be photoshop trickery. OH THE ANTICIPATION.

Posted by: kwyjibo on October 26, 2004 6:14 AM

Can't... wait... much... longer... Anticipation... too... great... Too late - aneurim! Pain.....

Posted by: MaestroJAL on October 26, 2004 6:36 AM

Come on guys. Get the update out now. I have to board the plane and the federal marshalls will not accept the excuse that "Officer, I'm just waiting to install Shapeshifter 2.0 so I can't shut off my Powerbook during takeoff." (Which, BTW is absolute baloney and will be changed next year. Neither cellphones nor broadband create any problems with in airplane or air to ground comm).

Posted by: Ishan Bhattacharya on October 26, 2004 6:54 AM

I think they just love watching us suffer.

Posted by: Jen Marsh on October 26, 2004 7:52 AM

Ummm... anytime? David Lanham's site has the Somatic theme avaiable, yet states that it needs SS2.0. Booooo!

Posted by: Justin on October 26, 2004 9:03 AM

wtf is going on?

Posted by: no? on October 26, 2004 9:16 AM

I wasn't going to, and I hate to seem rude, but I don't think most of these comments are necessary. It's still early in the day (at least in the US), and it's not like they ever said it would be out first thing Tuesday.

Not to mention, it seems a bit silly to complain about a free update being late... or "late" as it were. I'm excited for it too, but give these guys a break.

Of course, if tomorrow comes before the update, then I'll be wondering what happened.

Posted by: Michael Salbato on October 26, 2004 9:38 AM

hahaha, it's like everyone has to pee really badly, but no one will go until they install SS 2!

i can't wait either, but i won't be getting home to try it out until like 10:00 EST tonight.. : (

Posted by: yes!!!!!!!!! on October 26, 2004 11:14 AM

It's out already! Quit with the offers of your first born child to get early access already!

Posted by: Brian on October 26, 2004 11:15 AM

That's what I just said.

Posted by: yesman on October 26, 2004 11:19 AM

Well I like it. A lot. All of the new things that can be themed (or even just themed properly) are great. I didn't notice in the read me that themes can even include custom icons for System Preferences, so that was a neat surprise.

I love the built-in theme downloading, which will just get more useful as new themes are released and updated to support the new stuff.

All in all, worth the wait, I think.

(It must be quite a task to theme the About This Mac window and the "Color Label:" Finder text, from the looks of things. Not that I'm complaining, I just wonder how they're built that they avoid themes.)
